Water testing is of upmost importance when owning an aquarium. Water testing should be done at least once a week when owning a freshwater or saltwater aquarium. Test kits are used to detect problems before they become fatal. Water testing kits can be dry or wet chemicals and often consist of taking a tank water sample and dripping a liquid into the sample one drip at a time until the whole solution turns a certain color. Other test kits instruct you to drop a certain number of drops in the sample. The color is then compared to a chart to get a numeric reading. Reading are sometimes measured in ppm, or parts per million. Alternative units of measure are ppt, parts per thousand, or simply a number by itself.
Simple test kits like the Red Sea Marine Lab Master kit measure the most common aquarium water parameters such as pH, Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite. For easier applications we carry 6 way test strips which will test 6 parameters all at once, this kit is the Pentair Aquatics Lifegard kit.
In addition to kits we carry single parameter kits which will measure only one parameter at a time. We carry the following single parameter tests from Red Sea:
